A special welcome to our club, the K.Y.C.N.  After the Royal Oostende Yacht Club, ours is the oldest in Belgium. In 1933 the club was recognised by the Royal Yachting Federation of Belgium. Thanks to the help of members, friends and contributors, the K.Y.C.N. has grown to become one of the most important sailing clubs in the country. A defining moment in the history of our club occurred in 1971 when the club moved to its' new home on the "island" De Kromme Hoek, where, thanks to the efforts of the Commodore, Paul Orban, the clubhouse was built together with all the other ancilliary buildings. The clubhouse which is one of the most pleasant on the North Sea Coast, was officially opened by His Royal Highness Prince Albert. On the sporting front, the club has also won her stripes. Greetings from the Commodore

Fellow Yachtsmen and friends,

A warm welcome to Nieuwpoort, a town with 3 yacht clubs: Our club the KYCN, the W.S.K.Lu.N and the VVW.
Between the three clubs, there are more than 1700 berths available for the amateur yachtsman, making this the largest port for pleasure boats in Northern Europe, and one of the largest in Europe.

A variety of World Championship events have been hosted by the Club, including Cadet, 420, 470, Micro, Quarter Ton Cup, Three-Quarter Ton Cup, and the One Ton Cup, not forgetting the various European Championships notably, FC8, The Mumm, The Half Ton Cup and the Laser.
I would like to thank all of my predecessors, together  their committees and the members who have stepped into the breach whenever needed without counting the cost, it is this that has made the Club what it is today.

The extension of the marina and the renovation work which will take place during the coming years are seen as the best guarantee for the future pleasure of our members and visiting yachtsmen.
